Mission Statement

Women Rooted in Recovery is a Northern California Narcotics Anonymous women’s spiritual retreat created to preserve and carry forward the life-changing recovery experience many women have found in the Mendocino Woodlands. Rooted in the principles of Narcotics Anonymous and offering a safe, anonymous, and restorative environment where women at all stages of recovery can step out of the limitations of addiction, reconnect with fellowship, and experience renewal, growth, and spiritual awakening through honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness.

The 2026 Women Rooted in Recovery retreat will be held in the Mendocino Woodlands, a forested mountain setting that has long supported healing, fellowship, and spiritual connection within Narcotics Anonymous. This weekend retreat is an immersive experience where women stay together in shared cabins, enjoy fully catered meals, and participate in speaker meetings, workshops, and activities designed to support recovery, rest, and spiritual awakening. The retreat is open to women at all stages of recovery and is rooted in the principles of Narcotics Anonymous, with a strong emphasis on anonymity, safety, and fellowship.

Current Safety Precautions

Guidelines for private group events are subject to change. All retreat activities must comply with current directives from the Governor’s Office, California State Parks, and the Mendocino County Health Department. Attendance and lodging capacity will follow all applicable state and county guidelines.

Accommodations & Registration

  • Cabin lodging is available for up to 200 paid women, based on current capacity limits.

  • Cabins sleep four women; registration includes space to list cabin mates.

  • Once cabins are full, overflow tent camping will be available in the meadow at the same rate as cabins.

  • Space is limited; early registration is strongly encouraged.

  • No refunds due to limited accommodations and advance commitments.

Important Policies

  • Women only. No children or pets permitted.

  • Service animals must be approved by Mendocino Woodlands at least one week prior to arrival or entry will be denied.

  • Due to the remote location and wildlife, no food is allowed in individual cabins.

  • Catered meals, fruit snacks, coffee, and water will be provided for all registered guests.

  • The terrain is mountainous with steep and uneven paths; please plan accordingly.

What to Bring

  • Sleeping bag, pillow, and bedding

  • Flashlight or lantern

  • Tennis shoes or hiking boots

  • Bug spray

  • Personal care and hygiene items

  • Towels

  • Warm layers (nights can be chilly)

Sponsorship

Participants, if able, are encouraged to contribute financially to sponsor women who may otherwise be unable to attend, helping ensure the retreat remains accessible within the fellowship.
